Why you need to set goals in your business

Us.. just kicking goals

Without goals it is hard to have a direction for you business to go to. Some people can’t live without goals, while others? They hate doing them.

If you don’t have business goals, you can start to feel lost or go off path to where you really wanted to go. Also you might start to feel like you are going nowhere and lose all your motivation!

So why should you be setting business goals?

Well, here are 4 reasons why!

Writing down your goals helps you keep accountable. It is there for you to see whenever you look in your diary or on your wall (wherever you want to keep your goals) and will keep you tracking how you are progressing. Now you can set big or little goals, but I would recommend with your big goals to write an action plan on how to get there. You don’t want to look at it every day feeling overwhelmed since you don’t have a plan.. You just expect to get there! It is also great to have different goals for different periods. For example, have some monthly goals, three-monthly, 6 monthly, yearly and then I always like to think about where I would like to be in 3 years time. That one is just for fun so I can put it out into the universe.

Like I said, without goals, you may start to feel a bit lost, or lose some of your motivation. Goals are an excellent way to keep your eye on where you want your business (or life) to be and how you are going to do it. I also like to look at my goals on days where I don’t feel “boss”. It helps me remember my big dreams and that I will get there!

Well, we wouldn’t be called In Progress if there wasn’t something to do with growing, would we? It is an amazing feeling to be able to have something to work towards. It ignites you to want to work harder and stay motivated. It also helps you realise how far you have come and how far you are going to go. And although that can be daunting, it is amazing to be able to cross or tick off milestones as you go along.

To push yourself

With starting a business, you have already pushed yourself out of your comfort zone. You have left your security (or maybe you are still a side hustler) and started creating something that is all you. And that is scary stuff! So don’t stop pushing yourself from there. Create goals that are equally as scary, goals that make you question them, goals that you have to work (Very) hard to achieve. Some call these impossible goals and I would 100% recommend making one for yourself.

So if you haven’t already started your business goals, make sure you grab your pen and paper and start jotting down where you would like your business to be. Make sure you share your goals with us on Instagram! We love to see them all.
